Realize this is not the answer you want to hear, but a general guideline on runtime is probably not going to be very meaningful. The runtime of a Monte Carlo is impacted by so many things, some of the biggest being the number of agents, the amount of time the simulation is run, the number of targets generated, the comm architecture, etc. Obviously having a fast modern processor and sufficient RAM never hurts.
A toy problem will run in a matter of seconds, a medium-sized scenario might go anywhere from several minutes up to 30 or more, and a large theater-level scenario could run anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, with no true upper or lower limit.
It really depends how the scenario is coded and what level of aggregation is performed.

Post edited by: tmitchell, at: 2007/05/11 13:47
